Mission to NIGERIA – October 2025
A five-member team of Heart Doctors departed from Athens on Wednesday 22nd of October 22, 2025, for Nigeria. With a stop-over and overnight stay in Cairo, the mission arrived the next morning in Kano, a city in northern Nigeria and the capital of Kano State. There, they were welcomed by representatives of the Jigawa state Government, who accompanied them by road to the capital, Dutse, where they spent the night on the Guest House of the Governor.
That same evening, Ηeart Doctors team visited the Health Commissioner and He described them how the health system works in the wider region. Ηeart Doctors proposed to work in remote areas where villagers do not have access to a clinic or hospital to cover their needs.
Over the next five days, the team traveled by road to the following remote villages to offer medical and pharmaceutical assistance.

At the end of the free medical camp, the Governor of Jigawa State invited Ηeart Doctors team to his office in the presence of the ministers, offering honorary recognition to the team for their work, which contributed significantly to the care of residents in remote villages.
On October 29, the team departed, accompanied by government officials and security personnel, for Kano airport, flying to Cairo where they spent the night. On October 30, they returned to Athens.
Main diseases:
Malaria, tracheobronchitis, gastroenteritis, otitis, conjunctivitis, skin diseases, parasitic infections, low back pain - sciatica, hypertension, epilepsy, many chronic injuries. Malnourished children with below-average weight for their age.
