Mission to NIGERIA – January 2023
A five-member team of “Heart Doctors”, left Athens, 26.1.2023, for Nigeria, to offer medical services to the Sunti, near Mokwa settlement and Jaki village of Niger State. The team left with a police where it arrived after a seven-hour arduous journey on a bad road.
Patients from the settlements of the wider area were also offered free medical examination and medication. Many mothers did not have enough breast milk due to weakness and malnutrition. Many babies had lost their mothers who had passed away (all the available baby milks were also distributed).
Main diseases: Malaria, respiratory infections, gastroenteritis, skin diseases, arthralgias, hypertension, epilepsy, anemia, conjunctivitis, urinary tract infections, schistosomiasis, parasites, etc.
